Locations where Gatter Families
of Continental Europe lived in the 16th and 17th Centuries.

The above is a very rough distribution map giving approximate locations
of first appearances of Continental Gatter families. The book will draw
a more precise picture and will give distribution maps for different centuries.
In the above it becomes however clear that Gatters lived besides in Austria
(which is not shown on this map), predominantly in Northern Bohemia, Saxony,
Silesia, and along the Rhine River.

Since telephone directories are never complete
we have to count a plus of 10 to 20 percent (= about 400-450 families).
Some scattered Gatters might also live in countries (e.g. Latin
America) that were not looked up. If you find any GATTERs outside
of the above given locations, then please inform this site.
